ORCHARD SPRAYING

We own and operate our own spray rigs.  This allows us the opportunity to get sprays on in a timely manner, not depending on an outside spray service to get it done on their timeframe.  We run 2 Spectrum Electroblast sprayers that place an electric charge in each spray droplet.  These spray droplets then latch on to the nearest ground source which is the tree.  This means more of the spray ends up on the tree, unlike the conventional sprayers that have a large percentage of the chemicals that end up on the ground.  There are certain applications throughout the year that this sprayer allows us to use a smaller volume of chemicals due to the fact that most of it ends up on the tree.

We work closely with our PCA to make the day to day decisions of when and what to spray.  We use traps to evaluate insect pressure and we take leaf and soil samples often and then evaluate what each individual orchard needs.  Our PCA is in each field weekly keeping an eye on any developing diseases.  This allows us to customize a spray for each orchard.  From a winter dormant spray, to bloom sprays to nutrient sprays throughout the summer into the fall, we do our best to ensure that we have the healthiest trees possible.  Because, afterall a healthy tree is a producing tree.  Sure, we could sit around and do things as minimally as possible, skimping on everything but when harvest time comes that is going to show.  We consistently have some of the highest yielding orchards in the area and we believe that is very much do to our spray and fertilizer program.

We also have a John Deere Gator with a PBM Weed Sprayer to do our weed spraying.  The small and very fuel efficient Gator sits low in the orchard keeping employees out of the grasp of low lying limbs and saves money on fuel.  This rig uses about 80% less fuel than a tractor and sprayer.  This is just another way that we can save money, which increases your bottom line.

We do not do any custom spraying as we are not licensed for it.  We also don’t want to put ourselves in a position where we are to busy with other peoples orchards to get in to our own.  The only way for us to do your spraying is to turn your orchard over to us on a lease or management basis.  At that point, we can add your orchard to our spray permit and can do the work.
